Why Mistborn Is The Fantasy Series You Didn't Know Your Life Needed!

Part One - Mistborn (Spoiler Free)

Recently I have begun The Mistborn Trilogy By Brandon Sanderson. To anyone that told me to read this THANK YOU but also HOW COULD YOU!

If you're a fantasy lover and have yet to read Mistborn, you might be missing out on one of the most original but emotionally scarring reads of the genre.

New to fantasy? Long-time reader? Looking for something compelling?

Mistborn offers a captivating blend of action, intrigue and the most interesting magic system that I've read about.

What is Mistborn?

Mistborn is the story of rebellion and resistance.

In a world shrouded in ash, ruled by a seemingly immortal tyrant , where hope feels like a faint echo of the past.

The story follows a group of unlikely souls known as The Crew. Attempting the impossible of bringing down an empire that has stood for a thousand years.

The worldbuilding makes the story come to life. Sanderson is clear and detailed in his work, it makes us as readers visibly imagine the atmosphere as if we are living in it.

Magic Like Never Before

One of the most talk about aspects of the book is the magic system, know as Allomancy. Allomancers ingest metals to produce specific powers. One metal may let you influence emotions while rare metals allow you to anticipate actions before they have occurred ( Atium = my fave metal).

Characters

What Really makes Mistborn are the characters.

The book follows Vin, a girl used to surviving in the shadows but who must learn what it means to trust others and to fight for something bigger than herself.

Kellsier aka Kell, a leader who has suffered a great deal of loss by The Final Empires hand. A mentor and one of the best characters (You Can't convince me otherwise).

The character arcs shows growth in the most authentic but also painful way. You'll root for them, worry about them, be frustrated with them, yet still be swept up in their personal journeys (All things I felt when reading).

An Ending

The first book in the Mistborn trilogy (there's even more books in the extended Cosmere Universe by the way) is a satisfying story in itself. Mysteries that keep you guessing, the most insane theories you can imagine and action that you can only wish to one day see on screen.

The ending... No ordinary cliff-hangers. Just an emotional rollercoaster and a satisfying feeling of accomplishment that makes you want to jump straight into the next book, as if you're using steel pushing yourself.

Who Should Read Mistborn?

  • Lovers of epic fantasy who want something new
  • Readers who enjoy a magic system with rules
  • Anybody who appreciates character-driven stories

I can admit that this book emotionally got to me. Crying my eyes out on TikTok live was the least of my worries. I cannot believe Sanderson did what he did (YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID).

This was a🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read

One I will forever recommend. I have started The Well Of Ascension and I have started filming another spoiler vlog for my YouTube, so keep an eye out!

Thanks for reading!

🕮 Just one more chapter...
